Volkshochschule Duisburg West | Address & Opening Hours
The Volkshochschule Duisburg West is the first point of contact for many people in the western part of Duisburg when it comes to further education, advice, and specific course information. Unlike a classic event location, this office is a service and educational site focused on learning opportunities, registration, orientation, and personal advice. This makes it particularly relevant for inquiries regarding address, phone number, opening hours, courses, and the office itself. The VHS Duisburg is the municipal adult education center of the city and offers a wide range of courses from language courses to health, culture, basic education, professional qualification, and digital topics. The West office is part of this citywide system and has been located in the district library of Rheinhausen at Händelstraße 6 since autumn 2025. This makes it not only physically accessible but also embedded in a place that is already used by many people in their daily lives. Additionally, the page indicates that a phone appointment can also be arranged. This is convenient for many users as it allows for a short visit to be well planned and waiting times to be reduced. ([vhs-duisburg.de](https://www.vhs-duisburg.de/kontakt/oeffnungszeiten))
The West office is also clearly structured when it comes to contact. For direct inquiries, the phone number 0203 283-984607 is provided; the general service number for VHS Duisburg is 0203 283-94977. The official homepage also shows that VHS Duisburg has significantly expanded its online offerings and organizes communication not only on-site but also through digital channels. Those looking for quick information can navigate through programs, courses, educational leave, vhs online, contact, and opening hours. For the West office, this means: it is not only a physical point of contact but also part of a modern service structure where interested parties can receive support both online and directly on-site. This is the most important practical information for those searching with the keywords address, phone number, and opening hours. ([vhs-duisburg.de](https://www.vhs-duisburg.de/kontakt/oeffnungszeiten))
Courses, Advice, and Registration at VHS Duisburg
The VHS Duisburg is not limited to a single location or a single area of offerings but covers a very broad educational program. The homepage makes the central categories visible: society, politics and environment, culture, basic education, school qualifications, profession - IT - technology, health, foreign languages, German as a second language, and Young VHS. Additionally, the website features functions such as course search, program as PDF, newsletter, contact form, and opening hours. This structure shows why the West office is often associated with the term program in search queries. Those interested in a course in the west not only need the address but also quickly understandable orientation regarding subject areas, registration, and service paths. The VHS relies on a system that supports both traditional in-person offerings and digital research. This makes the West location a useful entry point for anyone looking to plan further education in Duisburg flexibly. ([duisburg.de](https://www.duisburg.de/bildungwissenschaft/vhs/vhs.php))
For registration, the city of Duisburg offers several ways. Interested parties can register online via the homepage, by email, via registration card, or at one of the VHS offices. The city also describes that the VHS has started its autumn semester 2025 with over 1,100 courses, lectures, and events, which further underscores the breadth of the offerings. Particularly practical is that the course numbers now contain a letter that indicates the region. So, those searching in Duisburg-West can easily categorize offerings with W. The West office is thus not only an advisory center but also a concrete access point to a large, citywide program. This is especially important for users looking for courses, advice, and registration in one step. ([duisburg.de](https://www.duisburg.de/pressemitteilungen/pm/2025/august/vhs-duisburg-startet-am-1.september-ins-herbstsemester.php?utm_source=openai))
Rheinhausen, District Library, and the Location at Händelstraße 6
The current location of the West office in Rheinhausen is central information for anyone searching for the exact location. The city of Duisburg announced in August 2025 that the Rheinhausen office has moved into the district library at Händelstraße 6. Since then, the VHS West has been housed there. In the same context, it was explained that internal structures have also been adjusted due to the spatial changes, as previously used rooms are needed elsewhere for teaching or other purposes. This is important for seekers because older memories of previous rooms can quickly become outdated. Therefore, anyone currently visiting VHS Duisburg West should orient themselves to the district library Rheinhausen and not to older location information. This clear connection between the educational institution and the library location makes the place easily findable for many people. ([duisburg.de](https://www.duisburg.de/pressemitteilungen/pm/2025/august/vhs-duisburg-startet-am-1.september-ins-herbstsemester.php?utm_source=openai))
The location in the western part of the city is also relevant because VHS Duisburg has regionally divided its areas. It is evident from the public presentation that the letter W in the course numbers stands for the west. This not only simplifies navigation in the program but also spatially assigns participants. So, if someone searches for the West office, Rheinhausen, or Händelstraße 6, there is often a desire for quick orientation in the city's further education system. The district library Rheinhausen as a location also brings a clear recognition value: by combining the library and VHS, one can find both information and advisory services in one place. This is a significant practical advantage as it keeps the paths short and allows visits to be conveniently planned for many daily routines. ([duisburg.de](https://www.duisburg.de/pressemitteilungen/pm/2025/august/vhs-duisburg-startet-am-1.september-ins-herbstsemester.php?utm_source=openai))
Program, Topics, and Typical Events
The VHS Duisburg presents its program not as a rigid seminar offering but as a broad educational landscape. In the municipal press, the offerings for the autumn semester 2025 are described as diverse, ranging from cultural education to languages, professions, and health to digitalization, society, politics, and environment. Additionally, a new focus on artificial intelligence was announced in autumn 2025, which bundles topics from basic courses to AI meetups to questions about AI in companies or language learning with AI. Also new was the field of natural sciences with lectures and a low-threshold introduction to the quantum world. This shows that VHS Duisburg not only covers classic adult education topics but also addresses current discourses and future topics. This is important for the West office because it is part of this program logic and supports registrations, information, and orientation for a very broad spectrum. ([duisburg.de](https://www.duisburg.de/pressemitteilungen/pm/2025/august/vhs-duisburg-startet-am-1.september-ins-herbstsemester.php?utm_source=openai))
The homepage of the VHS also gives a lively impression of how diverse the current offerings are. The recommended events include an introductory course to bridge, a literature lecture on Mario Vargas Llosa, a basic course in data processing, Zumba fitness, and watercolor painting. The homepage also highlights current topics such as educational advice, exhibitions, writing competitions, and film series. This is particularly valuable for the search intent around the program as it shows VHS Duisburg as an active place of further education, not just a mere administrative address. Therefore, those coming through the West office encounter a location that is linked to a very lively overall program. This is precisely why search terms like courses, program, advice, and registration often appear together. ([duisburg.de](https://www.duisburg.de/bildungwissenschaft/vhs/vhs.php))
Offices Mitte, West, and Nord: This is how VHS Duisburg is organized
Many search queries regarding VHS Duisburg revolve not only around the West office but also around the Mitte office. The official opening hours page makes the structure transparent: There is the Mitte/South office at Steinschen Gasse 26, the West office at Händelstraße 6, and the North office at Parallelstraße 7. This is particularly convenient for users as the city clearly distinguishes between the locations. So, if someone searches for the Mitte office, they will find the central address at Steinschen Gasse; if they are looking for VHS Duisburg West, they will find the responsible office in Rheinhausen. This division facilitates orientation in the large VHS system and explains why location and regional terms often overlap in search queries. The West office is therefore not an isolated special case but part of a citywide network of advisory and service offices. ([vhs-duisburg.de](https://www.vhs-duisburg.de/kontakt/oeffnungszeiten))
The website architecture also supports this structure. On the homepage of VHS Duisburg, there are not only programs and course searches but also sections like About Us, Service, and Contact. These include opening hours, contact form, newsletter, VHS card, advice and funding, as well as general information about the organization. This digital structure is important because it allows users to select the appropriate office more quickly. For the West office, this means specifically: those living in Duisburg West or specifically wanting to take a course there can be reliably guided to the right location through the online system, course numbers, and regional contacts. Therefore, the keyword-rich terms office Mitte, office West, and Duisburg can be meaningfully thought together without blurring the differences between the locations. ([duisburg.de](https://www.duisburg.de/bildungwissenschaft/vhs/vhs.php))
Photos, Orientation, and the Best Way to Visit
Those searching for photos of the West office usually want to get a quick first impression of the place. However, the verified official pages of VHS Duisburg focus primarily on service information, opening hours, course offerings, and current news. This means practically: The website primarily helps with orientation regarding address, contact, and program, not through a separate photo gallery. This is precisely why the combination of location page, opening hours, and homepage is the best way to accurately place the West office. Those preparing for a visit will find the most important data compactly and can plan the appointment accordingly. Therefore, for the search for photos, the location and service orientation is particularly helpful as it explains the context of the place and indirectly supports the visual imagination. ([duisburg.de](https://www.duisburg.de/bildungwissenschaft/vhs/vhs.php))
For the visit itself, three things are particularly important: the exact address at Händelstraße 6, the currently stated opening hours, and the phone number 0203 283-984607. Those needing advice can also use the general service number of VHS Duisburg or consider the option of a phone appointment. This is especially sensible when it comes to course selection, registration, or inquiries regarding regional allocation. Since VHS Duisburg organizes its offering structure citywide, the West office is the right place for anyone looking for information quickly and directly in Duisburg West. Thus, it is not just a point on the map but a clearly defined entry into further education, orientation, and personal advice. ([vhs-duisburg.de](https://www.duisburg.de/kontakt/oeffnungszeiten))

Train your staff before they spread discriminatory statements about people with disabilities! A teacher seriously told the "class" that you shouldn't photograph epileptics with a flash, as they'd otherwise have an epileptic seizure. Is that even possible?! I know about various illnesses/disabilities because I'm very curious and I read up on a lot, and in this case, I already knew: 3% of all epileptics are photosensitive—yes, that's what it's called—and of those, only a fraction reacts to a few flashes with a seizure—it takes a lightning storm or a strongly flickering screen! This group is so small that it wouldn't even have been worth mentioning! Instead, the gentleman talked about all (!) epileptics and even made it seem as if a single flash would generally be enough! This is how prejudices and thus discrimination against people with disabilities are spread and reinforced through word of mouth. When I pointed out to the gentleman that this wasn't true, he became stubborn. This made me really angry! Sometimes teachers can learn something from their students! But it would be best if they didn't spread nonsense or half-truths in the first place! Especially with such sensitive topics, one should do thorough (!) research before spouting any nonsense.

A very unfriendly person who, at the beginning of the phone conversation, gave the impression that he was trying to convince me of something. The man wasn't willing to provide any information over the phone about whether there were enough participants for a language course and whether the course would take place accordingly. I was referred to the terms and conditions! Never again!
