Am Buchenbaum 41, 47051 Duisburg, Deutschland
INDIE Duisburg | Concerts & Opening Hours
The INDIE Duisburg is not an interchangeable bar, but a clearly positioned rock and punk pub with its own character, short travel distance, and a program that has revolved around live music, parties, and pub nights for years. The location is situated at Am Buchenbaum 41 in 47051 Duisburg and is described by Duisburg Live as an alternative rock/punk pub in close proximity to the main train station. Those looking for a place where guitar music, indie tunes, spontaneous encounters, and a cozy-rough atmosphere come together will find one of the most distinctive meeting points in the Duisburg city center here. The INDIE sees itself as a place for people who appreciate concerts, drinks, and an uncomplicated environment. The official website explicitly mentions rock, punk, metal, and indie music as its musical foundation, along with changing events, regular surveys on special drinks, and a clear pub focus with beer, cocktails, and bar offerings. With around 80 seats, a small stage, a large bar, and a kicker, the INDIE is compact enough for proximity to the stage but large enough for a lively evening. ([duisburglive.de](https://www.duisburglive.de/veranstalter-1/indie-1/))
Concerts, Parties, and Karaoke in the Current Program
The most important search topic around INDIE Duisburg is clearly the program. The homepage regularly presents upcoming events, and the current selection shows how broad the spectrum actually is: Pointalk with guest Dirk 'Diggen' Jora, concerts with Halbstark & The Outspace & Kopfnuss, Kommando Pimperle & Liv Tailored, Latte & Pils Angels, the Argentine band Argies, and Sound of the Suburbs for dancing into May. Additionally, Karaoke Indie Ohren is featured as a separate event. This mix already shows that the INDIE does not limit itself to a single type of evening but connects concerts, discussion formats, karaoke, and party series. This is precisely what makes the location appealing: Those who enjoy a small, direct, and approachable live experience will find satisfaction here without experiencing the distance of large halls. The historical event lists on the website also confirm that the venue has hosted concerts of various colors for years, particularly in the punk, rock, and alternative scenes. The INDIE thus appears as a place where the local scene, guest bands, and pub audience come together. For content planning, this means: search intentions such as program, concerts, karaoke, events, and tickets are among the strongest topics because they address the actual utility of the location. Those who want to know what happens here are usually not just looking for an address but for an evening that is musically worthwhile. ([indieduisburg.com](https://www.indieduisburg.com/))
Opening Hours, Admission, and Who Fits into INDIE
A second central topic is the opening hours. The current opening page of INDIE states that it is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 7 PM to 12 AM and on Friday and Saturday from 7 PM to 3 AM. At the same time, the venue points out that the closing times are only guidelines and that the end is generally open. Additionally, openings outside of regular days are possible by arrangement for groups of 20 guests or more. This is practical for seekers as it shows that the INDIE functions not only for the classic evening visit but also for private or closed occasions in a small setting. The homepage describes the atmosphere as friendly and cozy, with freshly tapped beer, drinks, and regularly changing events. Equally important is the note that the INDIE caters to guests aged 21 and over. This makes the location a clear adult and pub address and also explains the tone of the website, which sounds less like a mainstream club and more like a grown-up scene pub. So, those looking for opening hours, admission, spontaneous visits, or group inquiries will find a location here that is relatively flexible but still maintains a clear profile. This is valuable from an SEO perspective because search terms like opening hours, admission, 21 and over, groups of 20 guests, and open end answer exactly those practical questions that visitors often ask before heading into the city. Directions to INDIE Duisburg and Parking at the Main Train Station
In terms of access, INDIE Duisburg benefits from its location in close proximity to the main train station. Duisburg Live explicitly describes the venue as a pub in direct proximity to the Hbf, and the official address Am Buchenbaum 41 places it very centrally in the city area. For guests, this means primarily two things: First, arriving by public transport is very convenient, as the INDIE can be quickly reached from central transport hubs. Second, while the parking situation is not that of a large event arena with its own parking deck, there are several concrete options around the train station. The train station's website mentions, among others, the parking garage Duisburg Hbf / UCI within less than 150 meters, the parking garage Duisburg Hbf / Duisburger Freiheit within less than 250 meters, and the parking garages Duisburg Hbf Averdunk, Duisburg Hbf City Palais, and Duisburg Hbf Königstraße. Additionally, there is a parking lot on Wuhanstraße. For the INDIE, this location is ideal because guests do not have to walk long distances after a concert or karaoke and can still utilize a central city infrastructure. Those arriving by car should therefore plan around the main train station rather than looking for a single private space. This is particularly practical for evening events, as the parking garages at the Hbf are open all day and suitable for both short evenings and longer nights. The combination of central location, proximity to the train station, and several parking options makes the INDIE one of the more easily accessible small music and pub locations in Duisburg. ([duisburglive.de](https://www.duisburglive.de/veranstalter-1/indie-1/))
Drinks, Beer Varieties, and Special Drinks
INDIE Duisburg is not only a concert venue but also a classic pub with a clearly curated drink menu. The website lists beer, Fritz drinks, spirits, and cocktails separately. Among the beers are König Pilsener on tap, Astra Kiezmische, Bolten Alt, Astra Rakete, Franziskaner Weizen, Astra Urtyp, KöPi alcohol-free, Beck's, and Th. König Zwickl. The cocktails include classics like Caipirinha, Cuba Libre, Long Island Ice Tea, Mojito, Sex on the Beach, and Tequila Sunrise. Additionally, there is a selection of Fritz-Cola drinks. What is particularly typical for the INDIE is not only the selection itself but also the way it is played: The homepage states that regular surveys give guests the opportunity to co-decide on special drinks on certain evenings. This is a small but very effective feature because it turns a drink menu into an interaction format. The pub thus does not feel anonymous but dialogical. So, those searching for drinks, prices, beer, cocktails, or special drinks will not receive a generic bar catalog but an individual pub profile. The price structure also shows more down-to-earth than upscale event prices, such as 2.00 euros for 0.2 liters of König Pilsener on tap or 7.50 euros for common cocktails. This fits well with the scene and concert atmosphere of the location and makes the INDIE a place where one can easily stay before, during, and after live events instead of just quickly having a drink. ([indieduisburg.com](https://www.indieduisburg.com/getraenke-preise/gerstenkaltgetraenke))
History and Character of the Location
The history of INDIE Duisburg is closely linked to its current character. According to Duisburg Subculture, the INDIE emerged in April 2013 in just two weeks from the former 'Golf Club'. This rapid transformation is more than just an anecdote, as it explains why the venue still exudes this slightly improvised, deliberately unpolished charm today. The description recounts that the distinctive tap and the pole dance pole from the former red-light era were retained for nostalgic reasons. At the same time, the location was described as a new rock pub in the city center with its own slightly shabby flair, a small stage, a large bar, and space for about 80 visitors. This mix of history, remnants of the predecessor era, and a new music profile makes the INDIE unmistakable. The location is not a sterile new building but a space with a past that has adapted to the scene. That the concept continues despite changes in management also shows that here not just a name exists but a grown usage. This is important for visitors because it keeps the atmosphere credible: It’s about music, subculture, closeness to the stage, and a pub identity that is not polished. Such details are relevant for search queries about history, special features, highlights, and atmosphere because they make the difference between an arbitrary bar and a characterful scene address. The INDIE visibly thrives on its history and the claim to be a place for alternative music and pub culture. ([dusubkultur.de](https://dusubkultur.de/?ph_kulturort=indie))
Kicker, Cards, and What Guests Should Know Practically
Those visiting INDIE Duisburg get not only a stage and bar but also very practical pub extras. The website explicitly mentions a kicker table, which, although it has been around for several years, is still fully functional. Additionally, there are cards and dice cups, allowing for classic pub games like Schocken. Such details may sound banal but are very important for user intent as they show that the INDIE is not just a concert throughput point but a place to linger. Especially after a concert or before a party, longer stays inevitably occur here, and the mix of music, drink selection, and gaming options supports exactly this behavior. Also practical is the comment function on the website, through which guests can provide feedback or rate the venue. This fits with the statement on the homepage that people in a good mood are warmly welcomed. This conveys a clear host signal: The INDIE does not want to appear exclusive but rather open, friendly, and approachable. Additionally, there is the possibility to open outside of regular days for a group of 20 guests or more by arrangement, making the venue interesting for private gatherings as well. In the interplay of kicker, cards, flexible openings, and scene programming, a very clear utility value emerges: The INDIE is a location in Duisburg for relaxed, musical, and social evenings where one does not just consume but also spends time. This is exactly why it is well-suited for search terms related to kicker, pub, atmosphere, groups, and alternative bar. ([indieduisburg.com](https://www.indieduisburg.com/))

A fantastic place. I came into live rock (not really my thing) but the band were great, the staff were great, the locals were great, the atmosphere was too. Came for one, stayed for several, and I really do like this place.

Initially thought the place was welcoming but throughout the night, it was highly racist and exclusive to hang around as an African as Tobi made it clear he was not welcoming the black community. Such a disappointment and not strongly recommended for black tourist guests in the city.
