Heart in Hand: Chansons about Love in the Opera Foyer
On Thursday, January 28, 2027, the Theater Duisburg invites you to a special musical evening: Heart in Hand brings the chansons of Weber-Beckmann to the Opera Foyer. The event starts at 7:30 PM, and the concert experience lasts about 1 hour and 10 minutes without an intermission.
Between Longing, Everyday Life, and Great Feelings
The songs tell the stories of falling in love and being left, of fairy tales, everyday life, and the great longing for happiness. Poetic texts meet diverse musical arrangements, where quiet melancholy and pointed humor lie closely together.
An Evening for the Stage and for Remembering
Christiane Weber and Timm Beckmann were on tour nationwide with their chanson and song evenings from 1997 to 2009. Their self-written texts and the broad musical range characterized a program that feels emotionally immediate while also being artistically precise. In 2007, the duo was awarded the German Small Arts Prize in the category of Chanson, Music, and Song.
Live Atmosphere in the Opera Foyer
The production directed by Michael Steindl combines stage performance, singing, and musical fine detail. The musical direction is led by Wolfgang Völkl, who shares the stage with Tatjana Poloczek. In the intimate Opera Foyer, an immediate sound is created that gives space to the texts and makes every nuance of the chansons audible.
A Musical Legacy
Heart in Hand aims to give the wonderful songs of Christiane Weber and Timm Beckmann another hearing. Between poetic observation, emotional openness, and pointed songwriting, an evening is created that does not idealize love but instead shows it in all its contradictory facets.
Conclusion: Visitors can expect a concentrated chanson evening with touching texts, diverse music, and a special closeness to the stage. Those who appreciate German-language songwriting and an intense live atmosphere will experience an evening full of feeling, memory, and musical presence in the Opera Foyer of Theater Duisburg.
