Digger in Duisburg: Grotesque Social Satire at filmforum
On Monday, October 12, 2026, filmforum Duisburg will show the film Digger. The screening starts at 8:30 PM and takes the audience into a biting world between disaster cinema, media criticism, and political satire.
When Power Meets Responsibility
At the center is the billionaire industrial mogul Digger Rockwell, played by Tom Cruise. After decades of profit greed and unscrupulous business practices, his empire is on shaky ground. In light of an impending apocalypse, the US President Compson, portrayed by John Goodman, demands that Digger take responsibility for his actions.
Satire with a Big Screen
Director and Oscar winner Alejandro González Iñárritu combines in Digger the impact of classic disaster films with a grotesque view of media perception, self-presentation, and social responsibility. The event is aimed at cinema fans who appreciate sophisticated entertainment, strong actors, and an unusual cinematic perspective.
Cinematic Enjoyment at Duisburg's filmforum
The filmforum offers a special event atmosphere as a municipal cinema with a historic cinema hall and modern media technology. The combination of a curated film program, concentrated audience mood, and stylish ambiance makes the cinema visit at Dellplatz a special event experience.
Conclusion: Experience Digger live on the Big Screen
