Favorite Pieces from Clay at the Marina Market in Duisburg

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the Duisburg Culture and Urban History Museum combines the Marina Market with a creative shopping experience for the whole family. From 1 PM to 5 PM, the workshop Favorite Pieces – Clay Crafting invites participants to shape their own ideas with their hands and create individual ceramic pieces.

Getting Creative with Clay

Under the guidance of Katharina Nitz, visitors can let their creativity flow. Whether it’s an animal figure, a globe with real or fictional continents, or an abstract designer piece: while molding, personal favorite pieces with their own unique form language are created. The finished works can be taken home afterwards.

Market Atmosphere at Duisburg's Inner Harbor

The workshop takes place as part of the Marina Market at the Culture and Urban History Museum. Amid harbor flair, regional diversity, and the vibrant market activities, the clay crafting offers a calm, creative counterpoint. The experience is aimed at all age groups and is especially suitable for families, children, and creative market-goers.

Museum, Craftsmanship, and Enjoyment

The Culture and Urban History Museum is a municipal institution in Duisburg's old town and tells the story of the city from the Stone Age to the economic miracle. On the day of the event, the Mercator Café will also be open. Hot and cold drinks as well as cakes complement the museum visit and the creative break.

Free Admission for Workshop and Permanent Exhibition

Participation in the clay crafting workshop and the visit to the urban historical permanent exhibition are free of charge. This offers a low-threshold opportunity to try out craftsmanship, discover regional culture, and take home a self-designed keepsake.

Visitors to the Marina Market will experience a diverse program of creativity, history, and encounters at the Culture and Urban History Museum. Come by, shape your personal favorite piece, and experience Duisburg's market atmosphere with all your senses.
