A new literature salon invites you to read together

On October 21, 2026, the Scheuermann bookstore in Duisburg opens the literary space for a new format: At the kick-off of the "Literature Salon at Scheuermann," the joy of reading, exchange, and the desire for shared discoveries come together.

Literature as a lively conversation

The focus is not solely on quiet reading, but rather on the discussion about books. Long-time customer Sabine Demes initiated the idea for this literature salon and will moderate the evening. Together with the participants, a format emerges that connects literary quality, personal reading experiences, and cultural discourse.

A book, many perspectives

At the kick-off event, it will be discussed which book will be read together in the future. The regular weekday for the salon is also up for discussion: Meetings are planned for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays at 7 PM. Thus, the literature salon evolves from the dialogue with its audience.

Reading atmosphere in Duisburg

The owner-managed Scheuermann bookstore has offered a place for literature, culture, and encounters since 1911. Among books and personal consultation, an intimate atmosphere is created where language, narrative art, and individual reading experiences come together immediately. The evening promises an author encounter in a broader sense: with books, readers, and the ideas that literature unleashes in a community.

Conclusion: Experiencing literature together

The kick-off of the "Literature Salon at Scheuermann" is aimed at everyone who wants to not only read books but also discuss their narrative power, style, and impact. Anyone wishing to actively shape the Duisburg literature scene and gain new reading impulses will experience the beginning of a special literary meeting point on this evening.
