Hydrogen-Based Society: Duisburg Symposium Looks at the Energy Future

What does the path to a hydrogen-based society look like – and why does hydrogen play an important role for the future of energy, industry, and climate protection? These questions will be the focus of the English-language symposium Energy Systems Compared at the University of Duisburg-Essen on October 19, 2026.

Lecture on Energy, Transformation, and Society

In the online lecture Towards a hydrogen-fueled society, Dr. Caspar Paetz from Hydrogenious LOHC Technologies discusses the perspectives of a society in which hydrogen takes a central role in the energy system. The event connects scientific context with current questions of the energy transition and social transformation.

Hydrogen at the Center of Duisburg's Future Debate

Duisburg offers a particularly suitable venue for this topic: The city is considered an important location for the hydrogen economy in the Rhine-Ruhr region. Hydrogen is discussed there, among other things, in connection with industry, logistics, mobility, and climate-neutral production. The symposium contextualizes this development from a scientific perspective.

English-Language Symposium at the University of Duisburg-Essen

The event is aimed at interested parties from science, academia, business, and society. The focus will be on technical discussions, the exchange of ideas about energy systems, and the question of what technological and social prerequisites are necessary for a hydrogen-based future. The event management of the University of Duisburg-Essen provides the framework at the Duisburg campus.

Conclusion: Discussing the Future of Energy Clearly

Visitors can expect a compact scientific impulse on the role of hydrogen in a changing society. Those wanting to learn about current developments in the energy transition, sustainable energy systems, and the hydrogen economy will experience a thematically focused event at the symposium with a strong connection to the Duisburg region.
