Create mythical creatures, write stories, and design images

When fantasy turns into real stories, a special family experience begins at the District Library Walsum for children and teenagers aged 10 to 14 years. In the writing and art workshop with author Angela Litschev, participants will create their own mythical creatures with extraordinary traits, friends, and foes on October 23, 2026.

A creative journey into the world of fantasy

What special powers does a self-invented creature possess? Where does it live, whom does it trust, and what adventures does it experience? Participants will develop their own ideas, describe their characters, and learn to write creative stories from that. Subsequently, suitable drawings will be made to give the fantastic creatures a visible face.

Connecting writing and drawing

The workshop combines linguistic creativity with visual design. Children will discover how individual ideas grow into a storyline and how colors, shapes, and details complement a story. This learning experience strengthens expressiveness, imagination, and joy in self-creation – age-appropriate, child-friendly, and with plenty of room for curiosity.

Accompanied by author Angela Litschev

Her offerings reflect the experiences, feelings, and adventures of the participants and transform them into their own texts.

Experience culture with the Kulturrucksack NRW

The free cultural offer of the Duisburg City Library invites children and teenagers to discover new skills, be creative together, and implement their own ideas. The library provides a protected educational and cultural space with professional guidance.
