Play, laugh, and win together: The Interactive Olympics in Duisburg
On October 21, 2026, the Central Library Duisburg will transform into a diverse gaming arena for children aged 6 and older and their adult companions. In the Interactive Olympics - Team Edition, a child and an adult will compete as a two-person team and experience shared time full of fun, movement, concentration, and team spirit.
Digital and analog challenges for families
The teams will encounter various stations with different tasks. In Mario Kart on the Nintendo Switch, not only speed counts, but also good teamwork. The Kahoot quiz brings tricky questions and exciting thinking moments, while Switch Sports with bowling or tennis provides movement and cheerful competition.
An additional game station with skill challenges addresses fine motor skills, attention, and problem-solving thinking. This way, the family experience connects digital media with analog activities and creates a child-friendly learning experience in a relaxed atmosphere.
Playfully discussing console games in family life
Before the Olympics begin, there will be a short impulse on the topic of console games in family life. Families will receive a clear introduction to how to succeed in playing together, making clear agreements, and using digital media consciously.
The event promotes not only learning fun but also communication, consideration, and cooperation. Children will experience that successes emerge from teamwork and that different strengths are important in joint tasks.
Age-appropriate and together with an adult
The program is aimed at children aged 6 and older, who can participate with grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, or another adult caregiver. The fixed two-person team structure provides orientation and strengthens the joint activity. Children and adults do not play next to each other but together - a wonderful family experience with children's laughter, curiosity, and many occasions for conversation.
Conclusion: An active afternoon for young and old game enthusiasts
The Interactive Olympics - Team Edition brings digital games, movement, puzzles, and skill together in one place. Families can expect a varied afternoon filled with team spirit, learning fun, and shared joy. Registration takes place through the Duisburg City Library. Anyone wishing to participate with a child aged 6 or older can experience a special family event in the Central Library.
