When Globes Become Seismographs of the World

With WorldProcessor / Diplomacy, the KROHNE art collection, in cooperation with the Cultural and Local History Museum Duisburg, opens an exhibition by conceptual and media artist Ingo Günther. The opening takes place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 5 PM in the foyer of KROHNE Messtechnik GmbH. The artist will be present.

The World as a Radiant Thought Model

The focus is on thematic globes from Günther's continuously growing body of work WorldProcessor, which has been developed since 1988. The spheres do not represent familiar political maps. Instead, they translate global developments, social tensions, ecological changes, and political contexts into three-dimensional artworks.

Internally illuminated and processed globes transform statistical information into sensually tangible objects. Light, color, material, and spatial effects lead the contemplation of the works from the realm of abstract data into an immediate aesthetic experience. The exhibition makes visible how closely our present is interconnected through migration, resource distribution, climate change, and geopolitical interests.

Art Between Journalism, Science, and Installation

Ingo Günther combines conceptual art, media art, and journalistic research. After studying ethnology and cultural anthropology, he attended the Art Academy Düsseldorf and became a master student of Nam June Paik. His works have been featured at the documenta, the Venice Biennale, Ars Electronica, and the Guggenheim Museum in New York.

The globes function simultaneously as sculpture, installation, and visual archive. Their poetic precision arises from the tension between the familiar form of the globe and the complex information that appears on its surface. Thus, the seemingly whole is fragmented into individual conflict areas, living realities, and future questions.

Diplomacy and Refugee Republic

WorldProcessor is complemented by the body of work Diplomacy, which examines the role of creativity and aesthetics in diplomacy. The project questions how images, symbols, and cultural forms influence political understanding.

Refugee Republic is also part of the exhibition. This project, developed since the 1990s, considers flight and migration from a global perspective. This creates an exhibition that does not remain at the level of observation, but connects cultural education, critical thinking, and social responsibility.

Exhibition Opening in Duisburg

The exhibition opening in the foyer of the KROHNE corporate headquarters offers art enthusiasts the opportunity to get to know the works in direct exchange with the artist. Until December 2, 2026, the exhibition is open to external visitors on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2 PM to 5 PM without prior registration. For visits from December 3, 2026, to January 8, 2027, a written appointment arrangement is required.

Selected works will also be on display during the exhibition period in the Mercator Department of the Cultural and Local History Museum Duisburg. The finissage will take place on Friday, January 8, 2027, at 5 PM at the Cultural and Local History Museum.

Conclusion: An Art Experience with a Global Perspective

WorldProcessor / Diplomacy combines visual fascination with political and ecological reflection. Visitors can expect an exhibition atmosphere in which radiant globes become thought models of a connected world. Anyone who wants to not only read global connections but experience them as an aesthetic experience should definitely attend this exhibition live in Duisburg.
