Year After Year: Singing Christmas Songs Together at the Theater Duisburg

When the winter air blows through Duisburg and the scent of gingerbread heralds the pre-Christmas season, the Theater Duisburg invites you to a special concert experience: At the Christmas carol sing-along concert Year After Year, the opera foyer will become a festive meeting place for families, children, and everyone who wants to experience familiar Christmas melodies together on Saturday, December 12, 2026.

Singing Together Instead of Being Silent Observers

The children's choir on the Rhine will be at the center of attention. The audience will not remain in their seats just listening, but will become part of the musical performance. Popular Christmas songs invite everyone to sing along and bring back even less familiar second and third verses into memory. This creates an immediate live atmosphere in which stage performance and audience mood connect.

Festive Sound in the Opera Foyer

The opera foyer of the Theater Duisburg provides a special setting for the festive concert with its characteristic architecture from the 1950s. The voices of the children's choir, the synchronized participation of the audience, and the festive acoustics create a warm sound space between concert, family event, and musical preparation for Christmas.

A Musical Afternoon for the Whole Family

Year After Year is aimed at people who want to not only consume Christmas music but actively participate in it. The sing-along concert combines child-friendly presentation, choral precision, and the emotional power of familiar melodies. The event is part of the Young Opera program and guides the audience effortlessly, with a sense of rhythm and festive energy through the treasure of songs from the Advent season.

Anticipation of Christmas to Take Home

Those who sing together with children, friends, or family experience Christmas carols up close: with voices, breath, resonance, and the special moment when a whole hall comes together musically. The concert offers a brief refreshment for the Christmas carol memory and stimulates the desire to let the melodies resonate under one's own Christmas tree.
