Viva Vivaldi: Baroque Music Up Close at the Mercatorhalle Duisburg

From 11:30 AM, visitors will experience the Duisburger Philharmoniker during the musical preparation for a concert evening that focuses on the sound world of Antonio Vivaldi. Admission is free.

Historically Informed Baroque Sound

Under the direction of Alessandro De Marchi, the ensemble approaches Vivaldi's music with stylistic precision and flexible articulation. The public rehearsal makes audible how conducting, orchestration, and synchronization interact until a transparent, energetic Baroque sound emerges from individual voices.

Viola d’amore and Venetian Tones

The program includes works by Antonio Vivaldi. Valerio Losito participates as a soloist on the viola d’amore, with Joachim Held also involved. The rarely heard instrument gives the music a silvery, warm tone and expands the characteristic string sound with a special historical perspective.

A Rehearsal as an Immediate Concert Experience

A public orchestra rehearsal offers an immediate glimpse behind the stage performance: musical entries are refined, tempos adjusted, and dynamic contrasts worked out. The live atmosphere of the Mercatorhalle connects concentrated working moments with the excitement of an upcoming Philharmonic concert.
