Viva Vivaldi brings baroque sound grandeur to the Mercatorhalle
On Thursday, January 21, 2027, the Philharmonie Mercatorhalle Duisburg transforms into a resonance space for Antonio Vivaldi's colorful music. The 5th Philharmonic Concert of the season features Alessandro De Marchi, Valerio Losito, Joachim Held, and the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra together on stage.
Vivaldi's energy between rhythm and elegance
Vivaldi's music thrives on striking rhythms, virtuosic dialogues, and strong contrasts. In the Mercatorhalle, dance impulses meet lyrical lines, precise synchronization meets expressive arcs. The orchestration of the Venetian Baroque master unfolds an immediate live atmosphere that clearly contours every accent.
Alessandro De Marchi at the conductor's podium
The musical direction is taken by Alessandro De Marchi. His conducting leads through a program featuring works by Antonio Vivaldi, combining stylistic accuracy with dynamic stage performance. Together with the Duisburg Philharmonic, a concert experience is created that brings together baroque sound language and modern concert hall acoustics.
Viola d’amore and historical sound colors
Valerio Losito participates as soloist on the viola d’amore, with Joachim Held completing the ensemble. The rarely heard instrument gives the concert a special tonal color: soft, shimmering, and yet characterful. In interplay with the orchestra, a fascinating panorama of Venetian sound art opens up.
An evening for classical music fans in Duisburg
The concert evening begins at 7:30 PM in the Philharmonie Mercatorhalle at König-Heinrich-Platz. The program offers concentrated Baroque music, virtuosic solo passages, and the characteristic audience atmosphere of a Philharmonic concert.
