LUAH brings harmonious balance to the KMC Café in Ruhrort
On Thursday, November 12, 2026, the KMC Café in Duisburg-Ruhrort will transform into an intimate sound space for the concert format Sounds & Spaces. Starting at 7:30 PM, the Cologne vocal trio LUAH will take the stage, blending jazz, world music, singer-songwriter styles, and Afro-Brazilian rhythms into a multifaceted live experience. Admission is free, and a voluntary hat donation supports the event.
Three voices, many musical colors
Elsa Johanna Mohr, Lena-Larissa Senge, and Ula Martyn-Ellis develop their sound from vocals, ukulele, percussion, synthesizer, glockenspiel, and electric guitar. The orchestration remains transparent and fluid: multi-part vocal passages meet smooth arrangements, pulsing rhythms, and finely set instrumental accents.
Between Celebração and Saudade
LUAH musically navigates between joyful lightness and gentle longing. English and Portuguese lyrics, Afro-Brazilian influences, and an open jazz aesthetic create an atmosphere that feels both familiar and surprising. The songs tell stories of encounters, nature, relationships, and the courage to consciously appreciate fleeting moments.
The award-winning vocal trio live
The band was formed in 2017 through encounters at the Institute of Music at Osnabrück University. Elsa Johanna Mohr and Lena-Larissa Senge studied jazz vocals, while Ula Martyn-Ellis studied jazz guitar. For the album MO VI MENTO, LUAH received the German Jazz Award in 2023 in the category of Vocal Album of the Year. With Equilíbrio, the trio released their third album with GLM Music in 2025.
Sounds & Spaces creates new sound spaces
The concert series showcases FINTA musicians from pop, punk, folk, jazz, singer-songwriter styles, and experimental music at various locations in the Kreativquartier Ruhrort. Each edition emphasizes musical diversity and an immediate audience vibe. The KMC Café provides an intimate setting where voices, dynamics, and stage performance can resonate particularly directly.
Conclusion: An evening of musical openness
Visitors can expect a versatile evening with warm voices, rhythmic sophistication, and a sensitive balance of jazz, world music, and songwriting. Those wishing to experience LUAH in a focused club atmosphere and discover new sound colors should mark November 12, 2026, on their calendars.
