With Waltz, Overture, and Sound Fireworks into the New Year
The Salon Orchestra of the Duisburg Philharmonic opens the concert year 2027 with a festive New Year's concert in the opera foyer of the Theater Duisburg. On Sunday, January 17, works by Johann Strauss, Josef Strauss, Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky, Carl Maria von Weber, Franz von Suppè, and Edvard Grieg will be performed under the direction, moderation, and participation of violinist Tonio Schibel.
Viennese Waltz Meets Romantic Concert Music
The musical opening consists of two lively overtures: Carl Maria von Weber's romantic Euryanthe and Franz von Suppè's successful operetta Poet and Farmer immediately set festive accents. The members and guests of the Duisburg Philharmonic connect elegant salon music with precise orchestration and lively stage performance.
A Program Full of Colors and Travel Spirit
With Josef Strauss’ Watercolors and the Treasure Waltz of his famous brother Johann, the Viennese three-quarter time enters the opera foyer. Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky's Capriccio Italia then awakens Mediterranean travel desire, before Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No. 1 concludes the concert morning with Nordic sound images.
Live Atmosphere in the Opera Foyer
The concert combines the immediate sound of a chamber music ensemble with the festive atmosphere of a New Year's concert. Between dancing rhythms, romantic melodies and pointed overtures, a varied concert experience arises for classical music lovers, families, and anyone who wants to musically welcome the new year.
Conclusion
The New Year's concert with the Salon Orchestra promises a lively morning with Viennese waltzes, operetta sounds, and romantic orchestral music. Those who want to celebrate the start of the year with elegant melodies and true live atmosphere will experience a special concert date in the opera foyer of the Theater Duisburg.
