Advent Carol Singing in the Salvatore Church: Duisburg gets musically ready for Christmas
On the first Advent Sunday, the Salvatore Church at Duisburg's Burgplatz transforms into a festive sound space. During the Advent Carol Singing, the shining brass sounds of Kopernikus-Brass and the choir singing of the choir of the Salvatore Church meet the special acoustics of the Gothic hall church.
Brass Splendor on the Town Hall Balcony
Already before the start, the brass ensemble Kopernikus-Brass sets an atmospheric beginning: the musicians perform on the town hall balcony and carry Advent sounds across the Burgplatz. This creates a musical bridge between the city center, the town hall, and the Salvatore Church.
Festive Orchestration and Group Singing
In the church, Kopernikus-Brass under the direction of Christian Blinkert takes on the instrumental part. The choir of the Salvatore Church under the direction of Marcus Strümpe complements the program with powerful choral sound. The Advent Carol Singing combines concert-performance with communal singing and creates an immediate live atmosphere.
An Hour Full of Advent Spirit
From 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, a concentrated concert experience unfolds with festive dynamics, clear brass synchronization, and warm choral voice. The acoustics of the approximately 700-year-old Salvatore Church give the sounds additional breadth and depth.
Music for a Good Cause
Admission is free. At the exit, donations for the Mother-Child House Meiderich are requested. In this way, the musical Advent kickoff connects cultural experience and social support in Duisburg.
Conclusion
The Advent Carol Singing offers a delightful pause between city life and the anticipation of Christmas. Those who want to experience festive brass music, choral singing, and the special atmosphere of the Salvatore Church live will find an impressive start to the Advent season on November 29, 2026.
