When Rapunzel loses her patience, Duisburg becomes a laughter laboratory
On Friday, January 29, 2027, Piero Masztalerz brings his award-winning stage program Shut Up, Rapunzel! to BORA Duisburg. It starts at 8:00 PM, doors open at 7:00 PM. The audience experiences an unusual mix of stand-up, cartoon art, animation, and pointed verbal exchanges.
Fairy tale forest meets sharp-tongued stage art
Here, Rapunzel doesn’t sit quietly in the tower waiting for the prince. Animated characters engage in a verbal duel with their creator – much to the dismay of the entertainer and to the great amusement of the audience. The show combines quick punchlines, visual gags, and a unique comedy atmosphere, where cartoon characters suddenly show more stage presence than many fairy tale heroes.
Animation, stand-up, and biting timing
Piero Masztalerz develops a stage form that intertwines classic cabaret, stand-up, and cartoon animation. The timing is perfect, the interaction between artist and characters leads to surprising twists, and the stage technology becomes an active part of the laughter experience. For those who enjoy humorous boundary crossings and intelligent comedy, this is not an ordinary fairy tale evening, but a fast-paced cartoon show with plenty of spice.
Award-winning comedy with its own handwriting
Piero Masztalerz is one of Germany's prominent cartoonists. In 2025, he received the St. Ingberter Pfanne, first place at the German Cartoon Award, and third place at the German Cartoon Prize. These awards reflect his unique blend of artistic precision, satirical perspective, and comedic instinct.
Comedy at BORA Duisburg
BORA at Dellplatz provides the perfect setting for this unusual evening. The centrally located event venue features modern event technology, good acoustics, a cocktail bar, and a distinctive industrial look. About 300 seats or up to 700 standing places are available depending on the event. Several bus, tram, and subway stops are nearby, and parking garages are also in close proximity.
Conclusion: A fairy tale evening with sharp teeth
Shut Up, Rapunzel! promises a quirky comedy show for all who like to experience stand-up, satire, and cartoon art off the beaten path. Duisburg gets animated characters, pointed dialogues, and a laughter experience with speed. Those who want to see how a cartoonist gets his own characters to turn against him on stage should experience this evening live.
